Giang Biscan is a serial entrepreneur and a super connector that empowers early-staged tech entrepreneurs, helping startups with business strategy and fund raising from angel investors and VCs. She is the current founder of TheStartupAngel.com and B Success Network, LLC. She is also the advisor of Mixergy.com and various mobile and web startups.
She has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Newcastle in Australia, and an MBA from UCLA.
She teaches entrepreneurship various educational centers such as the UCLA MDE (Management Development for Entrepreneurs) and EBV (Entrepreneurs Bootcamp for Veterans with disabilities) programs, coaching entrepreneurs with their launch and growth business plans.
Giang Biscan is a passionate evangelist for the tech startup community in Los Angeles. Since 2006, Giang has organized more than 200 business events of all sizes to bring the community together. She was an organizer of the first ever Los Angeles tech community conference, the Startup LA conference in 2006.
Biscan’s passion for the entrepreneurs’ community started in late 90’s when she co-founded a tech startup that was the online entertainment hub for the Vietnamese expat communities in the USA and Australia. The company was acquired in 1998 and she put the money into real estate investment. Today Biscan still holds a portfolio of residential properties in the USA, Australia and Asia.
In 1997, she founded VietSight Pty Ltd, a technology transfer company for telecommunication & pneumatic equipment from Australia and Europe to Vietnam. The company was acquired by HITES in 2005.
Biscan has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Newcastle in Australia and an MBA from UCLA. In her PhD, she developed and commercialized a system for processing minerals, now known as the Reflux Classifier. Her work was honored with international medals, awards and media coverage for saving the mineral industry worldwide hundreds of million dollars every year. The Reflux Classifier is now used in Australia, China, Africa and America. The technology was acquired by Ludowici Inc in 2001.
She is also an IP (Intellectual Property) specialist, with experience in managing a multi-billion-dollar technology patent portfolio of a public company from 2005 to 2011.
On a personal side, Biscan loves travel, cooking, art and is an advanced SCUBA diver. She was a runway fashion model for Chaays Modeling in 1998. She has 2 children and lives in Southern California.
